TWISTS

There are several ways to achieve a twist hairstyle. In the primary method, the hair is rolled using a comb or the finger in a spiral clockwise direction.

Finger Twist
Finger twists are obtained by rolling a section of the hair in between the fingers in a spiral motion.

Comb Twist
The comb twist method is used to create what may be called single or coil twists. Using a small comb, sections of the hair are twisted in a spiral motion.

Two-strand Twists
Also known as double twists, two-strand twists are achieved by intertwining two separate strands of hair around each other repeatedly.

Two-strand Twist Extensions
Using synthetic or human hair, these two strand twists are created by twisting the added hair into the natural hair from root to end to create a fuller, longer style. This method can also be used to create a braided style.

Flat Twists
Much like the cornrow technique, flat twists start with loose hair that is twisted flat on the head. This style works better on straight hair (or as a transition hairstyle) as opposed to kinky hair, because kinky hair can be too curly and full for this style, resulting in a frizzy look.

Senegalese Twists
A technique created in Senegal, this style consists of two-strand twists using fiber, human, or synthetic hair to extend the length of the hair and longevity of the hairstyle.
