The name Afrodisiac was selected to embody all that is beautiful, natural, powerful, unique, inspiring, fulfilling, loving, and desirable about women of color in their most natural state. Derived from the word aphrodisiac, meaning "something that stimulates or arouses," we chose the name AFRODISIAC in a effort to not only stimulate ones own idea of a better self image, but also to begin to alter the way women of color are perceived and most importantly how we view ourselves. Afrodisiac strives to empower every person — women and men — with the confidence to adorn themselves in their "natural beauty," fulfill themselves with self-love and worth, and express and celebrate their unique sexuality.

Afrodisiac's licensed and professional stylists, along with our wellness therapists are the aids in our clients' evolution from chemically treated hair to natural hair. In close consultations with our clients, we have found that most are simply troubled by the inability to find a competent stylist to guide and educate them through the progression of the transition period, or what many call the "in between stage."

Thus, our mission at Afrodisiac is to assist in the unfolding and expression of the whole and unique beauty of each client, by creating and maintaining a style and image that is inherently and uniquely their own.
